Daily Puck Drop: Are the Sonics coming back next year? What fanbases are the worst? Weight limit in the NFL? Guests: Danny Kelly, The Ringer. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com
PuckSports - A podcast by Jason Puckett
On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett opens up the show talking about the return of the NBA and how much longer do Sonics fans need to wait before the return of our team? Will this year be the last year before the Sonics return? Adam Silver and the league at some point need to give Seattle something before patience wears out. Lebron and the Lakers tip the season off tonight and that means plays with his son Bronny. Unfortunately it’s just a spectacle because Bronny James has no business playing in the league right now. Bronny averaged 4 points and shot 29 percent from the floor. This is all about Lebron. It’s a selfish act and goes against everything that’s right about competition in sports. Danny Kelly, The Ringer joins the show to discuss the NFL, Seahawks and fantasy football advice. Danny and Puck ventured into the debate about Todd Bowles and did he make the right decision in keeping Chris Godwin in the game? They both agreed he’s receiving unwanted criticism. Is the future of the NFL a weight limit? Puck and Danny delve into the idea because athletes are getting much bigger as the years go on by. You see weight limits in youth football, could it happen in the NFL?DK Metcalf is having his best year. It’s great to see Metcalf finally reach his potential. Puck and Danny also introduce a new feature, “Barge of the Week.” Every week they’ll put a team or player on the barge, but they can always bring that player back if they want. For the first week they are putting the San Francisco 49ers on the barge. It appears that they are finally done. Lastly, Danny offers his fantasy football advice on “Waiver Wire Pickup”. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.comjoins the show for his weekly chat on all things college football. John and Puck discuss the worst fanbases in sports and the why the lunatic fringe of fanbases get all the attention. John tells Puck about the time a fan accosted him at a restaurant with his wife. Oregon is the new number one team in the country. How are they handling the attention and does John feel there is another loss coming soon? Washington faces Indiana this Saturday at 9am and some fans are complaining about another early start time, but this is what they get and should have expected when they took the money and left the Pac-12 behind. John and Puck agree this is very much a game that the Huskies can win because Indiana to this point has not been challenged. John attended basketball media day for the Mountain West and WCC, what did he hear and take away? Also, he sat down one on one with Mark Few and talked about Gonzaga joining the conference and who will the conference add as their eighth member? Few seemed to indicated to John that more schools are now attracted to the idea of joining the Pac-12. What about the Pac-12 media deal? John dishes on the latest that he’s hearing on that front and has an updated story on JohnCanzano.com on the latest. Finally, Puck wraps up with “Hey, What the Puck!?” Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles doesn’t deserve criticism for his handling of Chris Godwin.
