It’s episode 30, and we’re giving you the ultimate cheat sheet. Not sure how to start the process of pitching? Want to impress us with your professionalism? Have your pitch stand out above the piles of submissions we get? Here’s how. 7 Steps to Make Us Notice Your Pitch Whether you’re brand new to the podcast, or have been listening since episode one, we know getting your head around what it takes to sell a show is not easy. We’ve been at it for years and still learn every day. The good news? Over the course of the last 29 episodes we’ve given you all the tools you need to impress. But… They’re spread out over 29 episodes! So we’re working hard to make things easier for you. With this single episode, we’re giving you a road map — a cheat sheet, if you will — to make sure when you pitch to us, you’re giving yourself and your reality TV or documentary series pitch the absolute best possible chance at success. So be like Joey and Natalie, pay attention, and let’s sell some TV together! Step 1 — The Great 8 Know our first 8 episodes. In 110 minutes (55 if you play it at twice the speed on your podcast player) you will learn what makes a great pitch, avoid pitching the wrong kinds of shows, understand the code words of our business, and you won’t look like a total newbie to us or anyone else you meet in the business. You might even call these eps the “keys to the kingdom.” Seriously. But wait…there’s more. We’ve converted the first 8 episodes to YouTube slideshows with clickable table of contents. Here they are, all 110 minutes, 9 videos total (a little intro kicks it off): To see the clickable table of contents, watch them on YouTube. UPDATE Just keep in mind the submission steps have been made easier since those first 8 episodes. Everything else is the same. But follow the steps in this post for actually submitting concepts. Step 2 — Access the Portal Sign up for the newsletter and access the members only portal. Follow the directions carefully. YES — this is a test. Hundreds of you have passed. A few have failed. You can do it. We believe in you. Step 3 — Good Shows to Pitch Log in to the members only portal you accessed in Step 2 and check out the list of shows we’re looking for right now.
