Do you trust yourself to fly with rock-star shaman, Alyson Charles

In this episode of the Powerful Stories Podcast, we had the opportunity to hear from rock-star shaman, Alyson Charles. Tory and Alyson met when Tory was going through her own personal transformation - and they connected like soul sisters! Alyson taught Tory the importance of grounding herself to mother earth when there was a lot happening around her. We take a deep dive and discover where the journey of Shaman started for Alyson.  Alyson’s spiritual Shaman awakening came when she finished a long-term toxic and abusive relationship. ‘I had allowed myself to be trapped in these vicious cycles of toxicity and abuse. I did not have the self-worth or tools to change’ says Alyson. The life-altering moment came when, after 16 years in her on-and-off relationship, she was about to ‘again’ venture out publicly as a couple. ‘We were about to go out’, says Alyson, ‘when I heard a voice say, ‘stop and turn around.’ The energy in the room shifted and I was drawn to his phone.’ The voice prepared her and said, ‘what you are about to see will rock your world.’ Her fears of possible betrayal came to light as she found graphic content revealing years of intense betrayal. ‘Once I was alone, everything collapsed. It was the divine intervention that got me through the moment. The divine had to come in and shift me out of my own way’ explains Alyson.  Alyson found her surrender moment. ‘The divine had to come in and lift the veil from my third eye, and shake me out of the denials I was previously in. I had to decide if I wanted to get out of my own way and connect to my truth. I communicated with great spirit and great mother earth and said, ‘I clearly don’t know what I am doing. Show me the way.’ Speaking that surrender statement was the most powerful step that I have ever chosen to take.’ So, for those who know something is not quite right - How do we find it, marinate in it and how can we then release it? Alyson says, ‘The question is - are you ready?’ Are you willing to shift out of the cycles and patterns that, deep down, you know are not serving you? Once you get honest with yourself you can start to connect to the divine power within yourself. Alyson suggests we take a moment of quiet and say, ‘my beautiful heart – what is it you want me to know?’ She assures us we will hear an answer if we listen - then we need to choose to act on the response. Alyson also taught Tory the power of animal medicine. She dives deep and shares her own experience with animal intervention after her spiritual awakening, as well as dissecting the lion in Tory’s own heart.  Leaning into the Animal spirits, Tory asked Alyson to give us a live animal reading – revealing a brightly coloured Macaw. The message - Do you trust yourself to fly? ‘There are so many unconscious and subconscious programs at play that keep us from living in our truth and power.’ By looking outward only, we are able to distract ourselves. ‘You just need to open the door and take that step, because then the ‘divine connect the dots’ can step in.’ Choosing to become that true liberated self is the key.  Alyson, like Tory, has a magical love story. She met Luke after he invited her to be on his Podcast. At the time ‘we were very guarded as we were both in our celibate inner work zones’ says Alyson. After 4 years of friendship, Alyson had decided to move to LA to ‘activate life’. ‘It wasn’t until I landed in my sovereignty and he landed in his that we could come together.’  Do the work and the rest will come - ‘There are no shortcuts’ says Alyson, ‘Trust me – I have gone through it and it is worth every ounce of facing yourself and your shadows. It is the work that will change your life.’ Alyson recommends taking this journey with a trusted spiritually grounded friend who will tell you where your blind spots are. ‘Ask yourself – can this be true and what is the root of it? It's that kind of work that will change your life.’ It may feel cringy – but when you become comfortable you can move on.  Alyson’s next most powerful step is to publish her book ‘Animal Power’.
