08.31.2018: Godzilla vs Biollante Daikaiju RE-Discussion

Podcasts – Kaijucast - A podcast by Godzilla & Kaiju geek, Kyle

Categories:

Jeff, Gretchen, Dave, Charles and Kyle take a good long look at this super great kaiju film, Godzilla vs Biollante. This month we are re-examining the 1989 Godzilla Entry, Godzilla vs Biollante, the seventeenth film in the franchise and one that took some time to get off the ground. We covered this in the first year of our discussions, back in episode seventeen of the podcast and I recorded that at an anime convention in Idaho, so none of my home based co-hosts have ever gotten a chance to voice their views on this cinematic beast. Thankfully we had a full house in the HQ for this discussion – Jeff, Dave, Gretchen and Charles were filling those co-host chairs nicely. We hope you enjoy the discussion! I tried to include a lot more information on this film than we’ve ever been able to cover since the tale of its creation is pretty interesting. Retraction/correction/etc – In the episode, I said that Mill Creek Entertainment, but really the company who released Godzilla vs Biollante here in the US on Blu Ray & DVD. MONSTROUS MUSICAL MINUTES: 1. Psychic Induction by Koichi Sugiyama from Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) 2. Godzilla vs. Biollante Japanese Trailer (1989) 3. TC System, Standby! by Koichi Sugiyama from Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989)   SUGGESTED VIEWING: Godzilla vs Biollante voted #1 Godzilla film in Japanese Poll (*from 2014) Our review of the Echo Bridge’s Godzilla vs. Biollante BluRay release Deleted scenes from Godzilla vs. Biollante from Echo Bridge’s release DAIKAIJU DISCUSSION: Next month we will be watching a classic from the seventies – it’s the final Showa era Godzilla film, Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975). If you’d like to have your homework (thoughts questions and reviews) included in next month’s Daikaiju Re-Discussion, please send that in before September 21st!
