“Quitting alcohol isn't just for alcoholics.” Like many of us, Andy was what he called a “middle lane” drinker. As someone who was always out entertaining or travelling the world, alcohol just became ingrained into his way of being. Something that was just part of the culture! From the outside, Andy had it all but despite the external success, he felt empty and lacking. It was great to hear first-hand Andy’s journey of self-realisation which is an ever-evolving quest to live life to the max! After achieving financial success with his financial brokerage, Andy gave it all up to co-founded the OneYearNoBeer movement, which has now helped over 100,000 people transform their relationship with alcohol. Since then Andy has written two books ‘The 28-day alcohol-free challenge’ & ‘Let’s Do This! How to use motivational psychology to change your habits for life’, and delivered a brilliant TEDx talk titled, ‘The pill will make you limitless’. For anyone that may be considering doing something similar, hearing how Andy has completely transformed his life may just give you the push that you need. It was relevant to me on a personal level having committed to giving up the beloved red wine for the year of 2022 👊. KEY TAKEAWAYS Many assume that natural talent and ability are the elements that set the great apart from the good. The truth is that the great ones all put in extra levels of work. Self-development is the key to lasting success. Knowledge is power. Reading the stories of others, being inspired by the lessons learned through challenges can serve to ignite the fires within us when it matters. The pivotal moments in life come through developing self-awareness. If we can take a look at our lives and see where unhappiness is bleeding in, then we can take the necessary steps to repair. Many people are trapped in the "middle lane" of drinking - regular, small amounts that "take the edge off the day". It may not seem excessive, but cumulatively, it holds you back. BEST MOMENTS 'Technically, I was like Bambi on ice!' 'I remember saying "I'm going to prove them wrong' 'If that's my destiny, if that's my path, then what are we all doing?' 'Drinking is like Kryptonite in your back pack' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Andy Ramage - https://andyramage.com/about-andy/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/EllieMckay
