This episode I had the great pleasure to talk to Bart van Raaij, a graphic designer from the Netherlands, experienced climber and arguably a bleausard, creator behind bleau.info and most notably author of the 5+6 and 7+8 guidebooks over Fontainebleau. In my opinion the best guidebooks over the forest and probably the best and most detailed guidebooks I’ve ever stumbled across.
We covered lots of topics like how Bart discovered climbing and how this eventually lead to his eminent guidebooks, aspects of good guide, easter eggs in his books, some brief Fontainebleau history, mystic climbs among many other things.
There are lots of references to boulderproblems and areas in Fontainebleau without explanations in our talk, so if you want to find out more, head over to bleau.info and search for the problemname to find all the info and photos of the climbs. All the information on bleau.info is offered for free, but the database is growing and website costs are increasing. So to help them keep the site running please consider ordering a ”bleau info t-shirt” by sending an email to [email protected]. All profits go to the website.

We did this talk over zoom and since this was my first time recording this way, I did some mistakes with the audio, like only recording on one end. None the less the sound turned out pretty good and the conversation was great.
