She has a Ph.D. in Forestry, an M.B.A. in Finance, and an M.Sc. in Environmental Science. Devyani has worked on global energy policy issues in India on getting clean cooking access to millions of people, with First Nations in the Great Bear Rainforest on sustainable forestry initiatives, and most recently on emissions from oil and gas fracking in Canada. Working with these various stakeholders has shown her the importance of collaboration across government, industry, and Indigenous communities.Devyani has been a Green supporter for as long as she can remember. As a climate scientist and a woman of colour, the Greens are the only party that reflects her values for an equitable and sustainable future. This is why she chose to run with them for the 2020 Provincial elections - as a candidate from Vancouver-Point Grey. Even though Devyani did not win, she successfully got over 17% of the vote, the strongest result for a Green in this riding to date. Her campaign was successful because she helped raise the voices of those not traditionally represented in politics - BIPOC, queer persons, immigrants, and renters.Stay connected with the latest from New Left Radio by joining our mailing list today!_________
