This week's bonus ask me Anything¨ I wanted to spend a little time around the topic of why team members do not change and take ownership. And in this case, I wanted to look at role modeling and how you lead, influence how people perform!    Why should you listen?  I don't have time for Lunch  When I´m not on top of it, nothing happens  I´m a fireman. I Extinguishing fires   I´m part of all decision-making  I need to protect my team from the outside world  I´m losing great resources  I need to be on top of my team's activities/deliverables  I If any of the above points resonate, then this is the podcast for you!   Being the specialist does not mean you have to get involved at all times!  Most leaders get promoted because they are good at doing the job themselves. But leading people means it’s not your job to do it yourself. It’s theirs. You did not hire people just to come in and clock their time, push on some buttons, and clock out. You hired them to enable the business to improve and perform. You hired them to deliver success. You hired them to co-create the future!  So step 1 is acknowledging that you are part of the problem.    Delegate, delegate, delegate.....  Accountability does not happen if you don’t delegate the decision-making and the solution design and delivery. The moment you learn to delegate the decision, solution design, and delivery, you only need to ensure that the progression is measurable so you can coach your team and ask the right questions to enable them to broaden their mind and skills.  If you do this right, you will free up time and energy to focus on what is important to achieve, improve and negotiate in the mid-and long term!   Conclusion:  When you delegate the responsibility (please make sure you set them in their goals and objectives), your team can be coached to improve the way, the quality, and the results they are hired to deliver. Trusting that they are appreciated, that they can make a difference, that they are backed, that they can make decisions (within a certain remit), and subsequently are supported,  covers the basic levels of comfort which are safety, trust, and being part of something bigger!   The moment you start doing this, you will free up time to coach more, negotiate the future, and grow the business as a value-added partner and service.   About Rahim Gulamali  As a trusted advisor, I support Sr. Leaders and Executives to achieve SUSTAINABLE HIGH PERFORMANCE, empower people, and transform approaches to achieve sustainable growth.
