Is the Keto Diet Harming Your Health?

Mitolife Radio - A podcast by Matt Blackburn - Fridays

For the past three years I have embarked on a pursuit of nutritional balance with regards to macronutrients and eating frequency. While it made sense in theory it did not translate to sustainable benefit for my health longterm. It was pretty much in line with the FDA's nutritional recommendations with slightly more protein intake. After experiencing memory loss and some other symptoms I decided to invest in a continous blood glucose monitor. I was shocked by what it showed me. I was essentially prediabetic. My current theory is that I was eating way too many carbohydrates, even though I was matching it with protein. I also gained a substantial amount of body fat, even though I was moving more. In this episode I share my thoughts on two myths about the ketogenic diet: Does it harm our thyroid gland? Does it increase cortisol? I also outline the shocking diet that pro metabolic powerhouse Dr Broda Barnes recommended. I share three tips that have helped me to transition my mitochondria to burn fat instead of sugar.
