Mitja Okorn | Director - WriterMitja Okorn is a director of numerous award winning commercials, music videos and feature films. In 2004 his debut feature film “Here and There” (“Tu Pa Tam”), a crime comedy made on a shoestring budget became a major hit in his home country of Slovenia. In 2008 he received the British Council’s International Young Film Entrepreneur of the Year Award (IYFEY), and he was proclaimed by Screen International Magazine as one of 20 European Stars of Tomorrow. In the same year he directed the wildly popular TV series “39 and a Half” (“39 i Pol”) for Polish network TVN and later, the hit romantic comedy “Letters to Santa” (“Listy do M.”). This film in addition to being one of the highest grossing Polish film of the past three decades, has won top honors at Polish film festivals across North America, including Seattle and Toronto. His third film, “Planeta Singli” (“Planet Single”), was released in 2016 to critical acclaim and broke attendance records during its second week of release. It was also the only film in 61 markets to beat Marvel's Deadpool for the #1 box office position on Valentine’s Day Weekend. Planet Single was also released theatrically in the UK and Slovenia where it has continued to break attendance records. In addition to his feature film work, Mitja has directed over 30 music videos in MTV rotation for Sony, EMI and Universal as well as commercials for such clients as Orange, BNP Paribas Bank and many others. Mitja has most recently directed “Life in a Year” for Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Jaden Smith, Cara Delevingne, and Cuba Gooding Jr. star.
