Si Gardiner – Carrington West Co-Founder & Entrepreneur Welcome to episode 8 and the second half of our Co-host interviews. This week Ben turns sole interviewer to give you a better insight into Simon’s background and his journey in business so far. In January 2011, Simon co-founded Carrington West, a recruitment company placing professional engineers and technicians into niche markets in the UK. The company had humble beginnings starting life as just two people, two laptops and some wallpaper paste tables in a garage conversion with no heating! Fast forward 10 years and Carrington West are on target to hit £50 in gross annual sales this year and have a workforce of 70 people. As you can imagine that journey didn’t come without its bumps in the road for Simon and the other co-founders, something that Simon is very open and honest about. Simon also discusses some more practical tips to scaling a business, why systemising everything is so important, and why some fingerless gloves were so important in the early days of getting their company off the ground!
