This Pulp Fiction review might be our deepest deep dive into a movie yet. So it’s gonna be a two parter, non-spoilers followed by spoilers. We’ve got 8 new segments including a Year in Review, Watch Stories, What Makes Quentin Dance, & the Homages from QT in this first half. What Makes These Episodes Unique? - 1:40 NON-SPOILER REVIEW: Cast and Crew - 3:14 Specs - 17:33 (Including a Year in Review, Kind of - 23:24) Plot Premise/Where We First Saw It - 27:14 Production Values - Sight - 29:40 (Oscar Lens: Director, Editing - 35:18) What Made Quentin Dance? - 40:18 Performances - 42:50 (Along w/ Oscar Lens: Acting Categories) Script Thoughts/Homages - 47:49 (Oscars Lens: Screenplay - 53:24) Final Thoughts - 56:44 Your Homework/Our Socials - 57:22 Words of Wisdom - 57:57 Pulp Fiction offers one of the more entertaining production backstories that we’ve covered thus far. Of course the movie follows that same formula. So no surprise we had enough to fill two episodes. In part one, we feature the Oscar Lens throughout our non-spoiler reviews of the production values, performances, and script as Pulp Fiction was nominated for Editing, Director, Picture, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor, & Lead Actor, winning Best Original Screenplay. So we reminisce about all those nominees and how we thought Pulp should have fared. Now there’s a ton of behind the scenes info to weave in throughout, and we scoured the web in order to comment on much of the analysis, rumors, & newfound myths surrounding what has become a legendary film. For instance, we discuss some bizarre casting stories for each of the principle characters, the 1994 Gump centric awards season highlights, and the unorthodox Oscar campaigns Miramax enacted in pursuit of their one win and seven noms. We also analyze all the box office and critical reception numbers in specs, and we discuss the many homages Tarantino made to his favorite films throughout Pulp Fiction as well as his mindset in creating such an unusual narrative structure. Stay tuned for part two where we’ll dive into all the spoilers of Pulp Fiction. Yes, MMO Theater will perform one of our favorite scenes to kick off the episode. Then we’ll dive into our new best scenes segment called Trademark Tarantino, where we discuss all of the classic scenes, shots, & lines of dialogue that make these films so iconic. Obviously, there’s a flipside to the best, and we do breakdown our many worst scenes and discuss why these films have become the beacon for as much controversy any others. But we end in a positive light by studying some of Tarantino’s advice to screenwriters, his many easter eggs hidden throughout the movie, and we end with some fun speculative talk about the Tarantino-verse and the overarching mysteries surrounding the film.
