Mike 1 went on vacation, and we were able to record something in advance to not miss any releases. But time & the Hollywood machine stops for no man’s vacation. So we had a lot of extra stuff to cover, and it’s the perfect week to devote not just one, but two episodes to get after it all. This will be our normal MMOW episode, where we react to Comic Con & the Marvel Phase 4 announcements, and we’ll have an Oscar Race Update show for you on Friday, debuting a new format, and focusing on the fall film festivals and new Oscar movie trailers (for starters at least). After nearly 40 episodes on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we NEEDED to react to all the huge news on Phase 4 and the prospective Phase 5 to open the show. Even if we’re a little late to this party... Our audience interaction required another week for reasons we discuss inside. So you get a new challenge (with a slight change) to enjoy. There’s a lot of big news surrounding the summer box office, including some apocalyptic talk about Disney, more billion dollar properties, and the reception of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. We stop to pay tribute to the life & career of Rutger Hauer, and then we dive into the many Hollywood news stories we missed. Are we excited to see Hobbs & Shaw? How is Mike 1 gonna make it until October 2020, when the next Halloween movie debuts? How does slashfilm know exactly how to get Also Mike hyped for The Rise of Skywalker? Will we subscribe to HBO Max? To Regal Cinemas unlimited? Should billboards be hijacked, even if it’s for a good cause? And how long are we willing to sit in a movie theater for the new It movie? Hint: the answer is a long damned time. As always, we want to know what you think. How hyped are you for Marvel’s Phase 4, and which movie would you choose to watch this minute if you could? Then don’t forget to submit your answers for the new SixDegreesOfMMO. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail.
