Or did the movies that helped raise us actually matter? Did they matter then? Do they matter now? And therefore, do we matter? There’s a lot on the line with this review of the 1964 (classic?) Mary Poppins. It’s a retrospective we’ve both long dreaded, but with Mary Poppins Returns a week away, it’s a necessary evil. The Mikes get rowdy in this one. Our review follows the usual format of our Oscar Sprint Profiles, meaning there’s a full non-spoiler review that precedes the spoiler warning dance music to highlight when those will be coming. Though the spoiler section is also when the shit will hit the fan. So if ever you’re gonna make sure and watch a film that you haven’t seen just so you can listen to our show, this might be the one. We often dive back into Movie History with retrospectives. Our month of Christmas Movie reviews began with The Muppet Christmas Carol, and we’ll get you National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation soon enough. November had us go back to the original Suspiria before we reviewed the Luca Guadagnino remake. And if you’re new to MMO, perhaps our crowning achievement on the podcast, we reviewed the entire Halloween slasher franchise leading up to the 2018 Blumhouse film. We’ve also reviewed the Mission: Impossible movies, Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Conjuring films, and a plethora of Oscar categories from the Titanic’s 97’ Best Picture to the Godfather’s 74’ Best Actor to thirteen Best Original Song halfisodes, one of which covered the Oscar win from “Chim chim cheree” from the Sherman Brothers in this film, Mary Poppins! So yeah, we retrospect. What did you think of this episode? Should you dare rewatch it yourself? Or will you trust us? DID WE GO TOO FAR THIS TIME? We want to know your thoughts. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. We are at MMandOscar on Twitter, and do send us your SixDegreesOfMMO responses to our latest challenge. You’ve already landed some great ones. Do please keep them coming, and we’ll read a bunch on next Monday’s MMO Weekly. We’ve been covering a bunch of the breaking news lately with the Golden Globes, Marvel Trailers, & Kevin Hart debacle. So do stay tuned for a bunch of movie reviews. Our schedule is loaded with more awards season contenders, and we’ll keep them coming your way through the holidays. When reality sucks, keep watching movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar!
