Coming Next From MMO/Words of Wisdom - 1:11:47 Jackie Brown is an underrated favorite for many. It has been an estranged entry in the Tarantino-verse that disappointed many other fans. Where does it fall for us? We certainly break it all down with our newly minted Movie Review format that we’ve invented for this series. Our new theme music is followed by our old stand by cast & crew rundown with analysis of all the numbers and dates and behind the scenes business of the specs, and then we dive into some new segments like the Year in Review, this being 1997, where we’ll discuss our Oscar Lens on Robert Forster’s nomination, as well as snubs for Pam Grier and Samuel L. Jackson. We share our own First Watch stories before diving into our Non-Spoiler Reviews of the Production Values, including a long look at the smooth & magnificent soundtrack with What Made Quentin Dance, the Performances, where we complete our Oscar Lens debates on who had the best performance in the film, and of course, the Script, where we cite all of the homages Tarantino pays to other films from Jackie’s opening credits to the font of said credits to the Judge to the movies within the movie on the TV screens at Melanie’s pad. In any event, we’re great, and we know it, and the spoiler section begins with our Trademark Tarantino segment discussing all the classic, underrated sneaky classic, and innovative scenes. There’s a ton, per usual, and we have a ton of fun enjoying them. Yes, there are some worst scenes, and we recap some of the feud between Spike Lee and Quentin before getting into some more bests, some worsts, and some screenwriting advice via QT, where we also discuss some of his comments on word usage. We close the episode by reviewing some of the Easter Eggs & connections in the Tarantino-verse. Though admittedly, there are less connections with this movie, and that’s done purposefully, we think. Perhaps? We need your feedback? What did you think of our voice acting chops? Is this a favorite Tarantino film of yours? Were you underwhelmed? Or are you all kinds of meh? We wanna know all that, plus your connections and hair brained (how dare I!?) theories. We did enjoy it, but is it that masterpiece & that rare sequel better than the original? Let us know your thoughts. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail.
