Just wow. Kudos to you, FilmTwitter. Many people were actually predicting these series of improbable & dare I say, unfortunate events to end the Golden Globes, and you were right. Bohemian Rhapsody beat out If Beale Street Could Talk, Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, and A Star Is Born for Best Picture Drama. So of course, we do not bury the lead, include some shout outs to you smart & funny pundits out there in our critic circles, and we break this one down at the top of the show. Our News of the Week segment finally moves on from the shock & awe of the Bohemian Rhapsody win into our analysis of some of the other big categories of the night including Best Actresses Glenn Close & Olivia Coleman, Best Actors Christian Bale & Rami Malek, and Best Director - Alfonso Cuaron. Things were going as predicted for awhile UNTIL THEY DIDN’T! Though one of these did make us pretty damned happy, we must say. The Golden Globes offered a lot more than just some winners & loses. There were a ton of memorable moments, and we had fun recapping all of the bests and worsts from the hosts, the speeches, the comedy, and the overall broadcast in our “What We’re Watching” segment in the middle of the show here. Our hot takes don’t stop as we dive into our “Do You Care” section. This is where we typically dive into a smorgasbord of Hollywood News stories, and of course, these are all Globes related. From some of the under card movie awards like Animated Feature, Foreign Film, Original Score & Song to the Carol Burnett Award and the Regina King proclamation, we discuss just how much we care about some more of the Globes many subplots. We have some more fun with some Trailer Thoughts as we weigh in on the many advertisements made throughout the show of coming attractions. Then we wrap things up with our weekly Oscar Race update & how the decisions of the HFP could impact the Academy. This is where we break down the two Supporting categories, Best Screenplay, who auditioned best for the Oscar hosting job, and of course, if the Globes just opened up the race in Best Picture. Do let us know your reactions to this insane and insanely fun Golden Globes. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail.
