Heartland Express Acquires CFI, Integrates and Rebrands Domestic Operations: Positive Impact on CFI Drivers and EmployeesHeartland Express, a major truckload carrier, has announced a significant change for Contract Freighters Incorporated (CFI), which it acquired in 2022. Heartland will now integrate and rebrand CFIs domestic operations under its own name, marking a departure from its usual strategy of keeping acquired company brands separate. This move comes after a period of financial losses for Heartland, with CFI being the only unprofitable unit in the third quarter.CFIs headquarters in Joplin, Missouri, along with its locations in West Memphis, Arkansas, and Laredo, Texas, will remain open, and all current CFI employees will have the opportunity to continue their jobs with Heartland or its other brands. CFI drivers can expect an increased compensation and benefits package, as their pay will now align with Heartlands existing operations. They will also be able to keep their current trucks and operate under any of Heartlands different brands.Heartlands CEO, Mike Gerdin, stated that integrating and rebranding CFI into Heartland Express is the logical next step to improve their overall financial performance. This decision follows nine consecutive quarterly losses for Heartland, excluding some one-time real estate gains. Recent telematics conversions and a transportation management system upgrade, which had been additional challenges this year, are now complete. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story.
