Episode 127 Gina Bagnariol–Benavides

This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast I had the pleasure of interviewing my Aunt and Ricardo's wife Gina Bagnariol–Benavides who was the Supported Employment Coordinator for Boeing in the mid-80s to early 90s as the Americans With Disabilities Act was going into effect. At the time Boeing was one of the first large corporations to implement disability hiring practices and Gina was on the front lines of the movement to help disabled people get back into the workforce. She spoke at many national conferences showing other large companies how Boeing could ADA policy into practice. We also spoke about her work getting legislation passed to make Washington one of the first states with distracted driving laws in the country. We also talked a little bit about her work speaking the high school students about the dangers of distracted driving and the real world consequences that can occur. Finally I had to slip in a few questions about what Gina and Ricardo remember about the car accident that left me paralyzed and the aftermath that. Please listen, like, rate, review, and share!! We're just trying to find a cure for paralysis!!ADA: https://adata.org/learn-about-ada   Today Show: https://www.today.com/video/washington-state-set-to-impose-heavy-fines-on-drivers-using-electronics-1004260931900   Jody Bagnariol Mather Story: https://komonews.com/news/local/family-outrage-2-killed-in-chehalis-traffic-wreck-but-little-punishment-for-driver
