We discussed his upbringing as a member of the Santee Dakota Sioux Tribe in Nebraska after being forcibly removed from their Minnesota homelands, attending an Indian boarding school and using sports to equalize his situation. Then we talked about his longtime friendship with Billy Frank Jr, his work with the Robert F Kennedy Memorial foundation, and a few interesting stories about working with different professional athletes to shine a light on Tribal Issues.
