94. Masterpiece and A Work in Progress
The Metabolism, Muscles, and Mindset Podcast - A podcast by Ali Novitsky, MD - Wednesdays

You are a beautiful work in progress. I believe this so much and I want you to believe that you are, too. In fact, I’d say you’re a masterpiece! Perfect the way you are. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make improvements if you want to. Let’s look at getting into a growth mindset, being comfortable with our own growth, and embracing being a work in progress. Key Takeaways Celebrate your accomplishments. Choose to be uncomfortable for your growth. Stop comparing yourself to others, listen to what you want to do. Growth Mindsets and Masterpieces You are a magnificent masterpiece. Yes, even if you’re a work in progress! Because no matter what stage of your journey you are on, you’re the perfect version of yourself: a masterpiece. It might be hard to believe what I’m saying; it does come down to entering a growth mindset. And a growth mindset comes when you go through the thought work - but once you do, you can do anything, my friend. When it comes to weight loss, I’m all about a mindful approach to eating. But there is nothing wrong with having more data to see where you’re at! I always recommend tracking your food for just three days to get an idea of how your nutrition actually lines up with your goals. You are a Work in Progress When you’re going through this journey, you will see other people at different stages or using different methods to, for example, lose weight. This is inevitably when your brain will try to tell you old stories and thought patterns. You might even be jealous of them or tempted to want to try what they’re are doing, but I want you to remember that this is your story, not theirs. You are a work in progress and I reiterate that you are a masterpiece! Finally, I want you to celebrate yourself. Celebrate your successes, your achievements, and where you are right now. Get comfortable saying whatever your growth looks like. Tell me what you’re celebrating. What are some of your recent achievements? Let me know in the comments on the episode page how you’re getting comfortable with your own growth. It’s what I mostly do, to be honest. But if you’re in a situation where there is something that you want to try out, I don’t want you to let past experiences push you away from doing it.” [12:24] “We have to get comfortable celebrating the accomplishments. When we are able to celebrate not only our accomplishments but celebrate just who we are, we’re going to believe that we are a masterpiece. And we’re going to be more comfortable saying, ‘yes, I am. And I choose to grow in this way. I choose to learn something new. I choose to try something new. I choose to be uncomfortable.” [23:16] Resources Mentioned Sign Up Now for the Free Live Workshop Series Check out the full episode page here Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 84: Reevaluating Your Relationship with Mark Novitsky, MD Episode 85: Reimagining Your Relationship with Mark Novitsky, MD Episode 86: Restarting Your Relationship with Mark Novitsky, MD
