The Metabolism, Muscles, and Mindset Podcast - A podcast by Ali Novitsky, MD - Wednesdays

Sustainable, long-term weight loss sounds like an impossible scenario. It doesn’t have to be - it’s all about finding what works for you. Corinne Crabtree joins us to talk about her own 100-pound weight loss and how she’s now helping other women lose weight for the last time.   The Only Rules of Weight Loss You Need Drink Water Get 7-8 Hours Sleep Every Night If You’re Not Hungry, Don’t Eat Make a Food Plan Each Day   About Corinne Crabtree Corinne Crabtree is a top-ranked health podcaster, Master Weightloss and Life Coach, motivational speaker, and all-around badass. She’s an expert in the field of weight loss where she teaches her unique No BS Weightloss Program that helps women lose weight the way they want to live their lives. Corinne tells it like it is, showing up looking sassy, or showing up with morning hair getting sassy. She lets nothing stop her from helping her women figure out their shit so they can live the healthy life of their dreams. She’s a proud Mommy Tiger to Logan, wife to Chris, devoted cat lady, and holds it all down in Nashville, TN.   Sustainable Weight Loss Plans Corinne Crabtree talks about the biggest change she made in her weight loss journey: Changing the way she spoke to herself. By focusing on positive self-talk, she transformed her mindset and her body. Corinne encourages you to start losing weight from where you are right now. Her four sustainable rules for weight loss are the basics that everyone can follow. From drinking water to only eating when you’re hungry, they leave so much room for creating sustainable changes in your life. If you’re someone who’s followed diets in the past, it’s time to figure out if those rules actually worked for you. Corinne says that if whatever plan you used before isn’t what you’re using now - it’s not for you. Sustainable weight loss includes the maintenance piece: if you can’t keep it up when you’ve lost the weight, it’s not sustainable.   Mindset Shifts Over Weight Loss Goals Corinne’s approach to weight loss is to stop thinking in terms of goal numbers and start picturing what and who you will be when you get there. How will 150lb you respond in any given situation? What will she feel? What will she wear? By taking the focus away from the scale and focusing instead on who you will be, you’re helping guide your brain into that mindset. This, along with positive self-talk, is the key to lasting weight loss and change. Finally, Corinne and I talk about the reality of weight loss plateaus and stalls. The real talk is that while there are certain circumstances you might stall, it’s more likely you’re sabotaging yourself. Corinne explains that if you’re yo-yo-ing up and down 5lbs, it’s more likely that you lose the weight and then fall away from your plan to gain it back.   Homework for Women Physicians What can you do to honor and start your weight loss plan where you are right now? The ice cream was filling the void of me not feeling good about me. I was starting to encourage myself along the way. I didn’t need to keep filling the void with ice cream.” [8:45] “There is no shame in starting where you are and taking small steps forward.” [11:22] “If you can’t do it the rest of your life, it didn’t work!
