SBG 81: Encanto with Jessica Darrow

Lez Hang Out | A Lesbian Podcast - A podcast by Ellie Brigida and Leigh Holmes Foster

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with actor Jessica Darrow (@jessdarrow_) to talk about why Disney’s Encanto Should’ve Been Gay. Jess played the role of Luisa in Encanto and while Luisa is an obvious, stereotypically gay character, everything about this movie is queer. There are rainbows everywhere. The casita is always hopping with colorful, musical parties that attract the entire town. Honestly, every character can be viewed through a queer lens, because as we’ve discussed so many times before, magic is queer. Jess talks about her experience filming the movie and how it related to her own experiences with her family and her sexuality. One thing is for sure, Encanto Should’ve Been Gay.
