Preparing for Change and the Return to School

Lead your Learning - A podcast by Olivia Buchanan

It was the announcement we were all waiting for - 'Schools can reopen from the 8th March'! I have no doubt that you are as happy as I am about this news and schools across the country look forward to spending the rest of the Spring Term, and Summer Term, together back at ‘base camp’. Despite the many setbacks, there has also been much progress and all pupils, school staff and parents can be proud of their resilience, determination, positivity, enthusiasm and creativity during this time. Let's hope we don't have to do this again, but if we do, we know that we will be OK.With our return comes more change. And as discussed before, change can be scary, daunting and unwanted. For most, I expect this particular change will be very much welcomed BUT it is important for us to recognise the possible feelings of nervousness amongst our children. As with any time away, there will be a natural hesitation. Will school be the same? Will I be sitting in the same seat? Where and when can I go to the toilet? Will I be with my friends? Will they still want to be my friends? So many things to think about and prepare for!
