Hermann Detzner e Richard Thurnwald, nel 1914, erano impegnati in missioni geografiche e scientifiche fra le giungle della Nuova Guinea Tedesca. Le loro vicende sono avventurose, ma presentano anche alcuni lati che sfociano nel ridicolo.
