The Breeders on 30 Years of Last Splash, J Mascis-Assist, & Kim Deal Solo Album

Kyle Meredith With... - A podcast by Consequence Podcast Network

The Breeders sit down with Kyle Meredith to talk about the 30th-anniversary edition of Last Splash. Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson discuss the work that went into making the indie classic, including the near-mythological amount of experimentation, and how The Weird 90s opened the door for their unlikely single “Cannonball” to be a worldwide hit. The band also recalls the story of how they thought they had lost the original analog tapes before an industry friend helped them locate a secondary version that would also unearth the previously unreleased “Go Man Go” and an alternate version of their hit single “Divine Hammer” that featured Dinosaur Jr’s J. Mascis on lead vocals. As for what’s next, the band tells us that Kim Deal has a solo album lined up as well as tour dates with Belly, which of course opens the door for former member Tanya Donlley to join them on stage.Listen to The Breeders sit and chat about all this and more in the new episode or watch it on Youtube.
