Carbon sequestration calculation

This week, Will and Ben are joined by Alexi Ernstoff, Global Science Lead and Sustainability Consultant at Quantis International and Kite’s Head of Sustainability, Rachael Madeley-Davies to talk through the work with Brian Lindsay and the team at Global Dairy Platform. Many farms may have already calculated their carbon footprint, but have been waiting for methodology to understand how to incorporate the carbon sequestration capacity of their farmland. The C-Sequ project brings together stakeholders from the dairy and beef industry to agree guidelines for calculating carbon sequestration in cattle production systems. With all we’ve heard this week from COP26, it would be easy to think that farmers are part of the problem but Alexi and Rachael discuss how the opposite is true and the opportunities for farmers to be recognised for good environmental practice. Plus not forgetting the usual milk market update from Chris Walkland.
