Ivan Ilyich is married, has children, a career, and by asll accounts seems to have done everything right. He takes a new, better paying job, and whilst hanging curtains in preparation for his family's arrival to the new home, he falls against the window. Thinking nothing of it, he later begins to feel pain, a pain that would ravage his body.  Doctors cannot find consensus about his illness, and Ilyich's pain grows more severe. He resents his family who he believes, rightly so, find his illness and impending death a mere inconvenience to their lives.  Ilyich's confrontation with death, about what is right, and the inevitability of death torment him throughout his illness.  At first, he tries to forget about his illness by throwing himself into his work; to go on living his pleasant life as normal. As he confronts death, he knows that in the end that none of it matters; nothing he has accomplished in his life means anything when stood against the slow death he faces. #Tolstoy #IvanIlyich  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/karla3507/message
