KDMEO Episode 109 - So many fall dramas! Part 2

K-Drama My Eyes Out - A podcast by Judy, Linda and Teresa

Categories:

This week's theme is crime! This crop of fall dramas were, for the most part, so much better than last week. Still though, whither "100 Days My Prince"? Next week on Part 3, we're watching the first episodes of "Bad Papa" (배드파파), "Matrimonial Chaos" (최고의 이혼), and "When Time Stopped" (시간이 멈추는 그 때). Digressions: 0:55 - "Overcooked 2 - Surf and Turf" and "World of Warcraft" 3:02 - "It's Okay, That's Love" (괜찮아, 사랑이야) 4:27 - Listener E-mail!   6:32 - "Ms. Ma, Nemesis" (미스마) is a drama from SBS, which continues the fine tradition of police officers being portrayed as inept nincompoops. It stars Kim YunJin (do you guys remember her from "Lost"?) and Jung WoongIn. Finally a detective drama, with a female lead to boot! Judy and Teresa loved every minute of it, despite its faults.   33:17 - "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" (하늘에서 내리는 일억개의 별) is a supremely disappointing offering from TVN. It stars Seo InGuk, Jung SoMin and Park SungWoong, who are definitely trying their best with some plodding material. Hey, this one also has useless cop characters!   44:47 - "The Player" (플레이어) is a cool heist drama from OCN and stars Song SeungHun, Krystal Jung, Lee SiEon, Tae WonSuk and Kim WonHae. Judy and Teresa liked the twist of having the main characters using their criminal talents against bigger crooks to help the law, while also helping themselves.   Some Korean terms: 콩밥: [kong-bap] rice with beans/peas; "to eat 콩밥" is a euphemism for being in prison.  장로님: [jang-lo-nim] an elder of the church. 장인님: [jang-in-nim] how a man refers to one's father-in-law. 장모님: [jang-mo-nim] how a man refers to one's mother-in-law.    Audio credits: JeA – Miss Ma, Nemesis – “Alone” Brad Feidel - Terminator 2: Judgment Day - "Main Title from Terminator 2" Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com).
