When U.S. President Donald Trump hosted the representatives of Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain at the White House for a ceremony hailing the normalization of relations between the two Gulf countries and the Jewish State, American as well as Israeli officials saw it as a new paradigm in the Middle East. No longer, they said, are various Arab governments going to wait for the resolution of the Palestinian conflict with Israel, before they act according to their own interests and upgrade their de facto ties with Jerusalem.
