'We're just giving up' - Councillor slams closure of city laneway by publican

One Dublin publican has shut down an inner-city laneway by erecting gates at a cost of €20,000 because of persistent anti-social behaviour.  Gary O’Reilly of O’Reilly’s Bar on Parnell Street claims he erected the gates after years of inaction over crime in the laneway. It comes after councillors’ voted, earlier this year, to close another lane in Dublin – Harbour Court, which runs between Abbey Street, Eden Quay and Marlborough Street.  Is it the best way to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour?  Adrian Kennedy was joined by Green Party City Councillor Janet Horner and others to discuss...
