Self Compassion as You Start Your Health & Fitness Journey
Here's the Deal: Fitness, Nutrition, & Mindset for People Who Don't Want Life to Suck - A podcast by Iris, Meri, & Amy - Mondays

We’ve all been beginners at some point. We’ve all sucked. We start out with the intention to be consistent with the actions we want to turn into habits and lifestyle, and it just doesn’t always turn out that way. It’s hard, for a few reasons, one being complexity bias – the idea that it just can’t be that simple! So, we look for ways to make it more complicated on ourselves, and then we burn out, and then we’re right back to where we started.Simple doesn’t mean easy, though. Being patient is hard. Being consistent is hard. And when we practice and master the balance between having self-compassion and calling ourselves out on our own bullshit at the same time… that’s where the real magic happens.“It took time to create those habits, it’s going to take time to incorporate new ones. So, you have to be patient with yourself, and it’s not going to be perfect.” – Brooke “Addressing the mindset from the get-go is a huge part of it. If we’re looking for the quick fix, as fast as possible, it’s not going to last because we haven’t learned anything. We haven’t learned how to maintain it, we haven’t learned any patience – which, you know, just in life in general is a huge skill to be able to slow down and wait for things.” - Iris This week on Tater Talks: Two Bitches Talk Fitness:· The real hack to starting out· When to focus on the basics and when to focus on specifics· The “add” vs “remove” approach to diet shifts and goal getting· How to balance a plateThanks for listening to this week’s episode of Tater Talks: Two Bitches Talk Fitness!
