Healthcare IT Today Interviews - A podcast by John Lynn

When I look at the state of communication in healthcare, I can see that we’ve made a lot of progress. Certainly, there’s still plenty of work to be done, but the good news is that now we have electronic options when it comes to communicating healthcare data between organizations. This wasn’t really true even a decade ago. In fact, the real challenge today is that with so many options and adoption levels, it can often be hard to manage which option is best for a given situation. This was the main topic of discussion when I sat down with Jon Elwell, CEO at Kno2 and Therasa Bell, Cofounder, President & CTO at Kno2. Along with learning about where they think the state of healthcare communication is today, they also share how the right technology can help to solve the problem of so many healthcare interoperability options. They talk about it from a perspective of “Send, Receive, Find” where the technology does the heavy lifting for the doctor when it comes to knowing which healthcare organization supports which standard or interoperability option. This leaves doctors and their staff to just specify what should be sent and to whom it should be sent while the technology manages all the interoperability variation that exists today.
