Healthcare IT Today Interviews - A podcast by John Lynn

To get a better understanding of some of the early use cases for Digital Twins in healthcare, I sat down with Niels Thomsen, VP & Global Head of the Insight (IoT & AI) Practice, and David Sele, Consultant and Business Developer - IoT at Atos. Along with talking about what a digital twin is and where it's being used in healthcare, I also ask them about the process of creating a digital twin and what technology is used to create and test against the twin. They also share some of the details of a successful digital twin use case in healthcare. They also share the benefits of a digital twin along with the limitations and how they compare against other options. Then, Thomsen and Sele share what the future of digital twins looks like and what will be worked on next. While some of these concepts feel like they're still a while to come, it is amazing to see how far the triumvirate of data, processing, and sensors have come in the past 5-10 years. This combination of the high quality sensors creating volumes of data which can be quickly processed is why the concept of a digital twin is so exciting now despite the concept being around for decades.
