While we all know what a crazy year it’s been for medical practices, when we sat down with Halee Fischer-Wright, MD, MMM, FAAP, FACMPE, President and CEO of Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), we learned some of the numbers and details around how much medical practices have been impacted by the pandemic and the impact is real and longer lasting than I would have imagined. We sat down with Dr. Fischer-Wright as a small preview of the upcoming Medical Practice Excellence Conference (MPEC) where medical practices will come together to collaborate, connect, and learn from their peers and other experts. Along with sharing what medical practices are experiencing, in our interview we also talk about what all these changes mean to the future of small practices vs large practices. Dr. Fischer-Wright aptly shares how medical education often breeds competition between clinicians that now often needs to be broken down in order for medical practices to collaborate in this new extremely competitive market. Dr. Fischer-Wright also shares what MGMA has been doing to help medical groups not only survive amidst the pandemic, but even thrive. She shares some key trends that medical groups need to be watching including things like data around physician compensation and how that’s been impacted. We also ask Dr. Fischer-Wright to share what the long lasting impacts of COVID-19 are going to be for both good and bad. Learn more about MGMA: https://www.mgma.com/
