What to Do with Sin: Confess and Repent

Graham Chapel Wesleyan Church - A podcast by Graham Chapel

Welcome Graham fam! We are so glad you could watch Sunday morning online with us. If you would like to watch our past services, you can do so here: https://www.gcwesleyan.org/teaching/ What to Do with Sin – 1 – Confess and Repent Now, as we start this series, I want to be very clear that I am not giving you a greenlight to continue in sin. Paul does a very good job of explaining why we should not keep on in sin in his letter to the Roman Church in Romans 6. So, if you have someone pouring poison into your head about how you can keep on sinning because God forgives past, present and future sins, I really encourage you to read Romans 6. But that’s not our sermon today so let’s talk about what we must do with sin. We do live in a sinful world. We are a sinful people. None of us have reached perfection and there are a ton of passages that talk about what we should do when we do fall into temptation and cross that threshold into sin. So, let’s look at some of them as we begin this new series. Scripture: 1 John 2:1-2 Points: 1. The Goal is NOT to Sin (1 John 3:6) 2. We Have a High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16) 3. Jesus Atones for Our Sins (Galatians 1:4-5, John 14:6) 4. We Must Confess and Repent (Luke 15:7) Ending: But we all have sin! As Paul wrote in… Romans 3:23-24 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Any person who truly loves God knows that we have all sinned. Its not surprising that there is sin in your life. Because every saint of God has had sin that needed to be dealt with. Every saint has had to make their way down to an altar at some time if not multiple times in their life. You confessing and repenting will not be a shock. People will not be disappointed. IN fact, all of heaven will rejoice when you repent and you know in your heart that you will feel much better after you confess and repent!
