On the Geektown Radio podcast this week I'm joined by Gray as co-host to review our week in tv and film, plus we chat about the weekly tv news, along with a look at the next week on tv. We also have a fantastic interview with seasoned Stunt Coordinator Charlie Croughwell.Stunt coordinator Charlie Croughwell has a huge list of credits to his name. His nearly 40-year career in stunts really took off when he started as Michael J. Fox's stunt double in the 'Back to the Future', following him all the way through his career up to 'Spin City'. He has coordinated stunts for numerous films over the years including 'La La Land', 'Vice', 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', 'Planet Of The Apes', 'Men in Black II', 'What Dreams May Come' and 'Hulk', to name but a few! In tv, he has worked on 'The Rookie', 'Animal Kingdom', Apple TV+ series 'The Morning Show' and epic HBO war drama 'The Pacific'.Most recently, Charlie prepped Meryl Streep for her challenging stunts scene in Netflix film 'The Laundromat'. With more actors doing their own stunts and stunts becoming increasingly more dangerous and difficult, Charlie discusses the various precautions he takes to prep actors and his crew for their safety. Whilst Meryl Streep is not a name you might associate with stunt work, this movie includes an epic scene, based on a real event where many did not survive, which saw a tour boat loaded with 37 elderly folks (80 years old and up) capsize. Charlie was responsible for making sure things went off without a hitch, and Meryl, along with the rest of the cast, were prepared for the stunt. The other recent project Charlie has been coordinating stunts for is Disney movie 'Call of the Wild', premiering February 2020, which saw working with star Harrison Ford.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown.
