Happy New Year everyone! We are back with our first new Geektown Radio of 2018, and we have a show packed full of tv news, air date info, and a very special exclusive interview with the brilliant composer Jeff Russo. As longtime listeners will know, this is the 4th time the Emmy winning composer Jeff Russo has been on the show. Three-time Emmy nominee and a two-time Grammy nominee, Jeff is at the top of his game right now, and has been extremely busy since we last chatted around 18 months ago. Not only did he recently win the Emmy for his thrilling and angst-producing score on Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series ‘Fargo’, he also has been creating music for ‘The Night Of’, ‘American Gothic’, ‘Snowfall’, ‘Lucifer’, ‘Bull’, ‘Ghosted’, ‘Power’, ‘Channel Zero’ and the utterly brilliant ‘Legion’.However, the main thing we've been desperate to get him back on the show to talk about is his latest composing gig - writing the music for ‘Star Trek: Discovery’. We talk about how he went about tackling such a monumental project with such a rich history, and also chat a little about creating the music for such a wonderfully bonkers show as ‘Legion’.Also On This Week's Show:Ross returns to the co-host chair and we chat about the tv shows and films we've been watching including 'Manhunt: Unabomber', 'Godless', 'Black Mirror' and 'Bright', 'The Punisher', and 'The Orville'.We chat through the Golden Globes, and of course, the results of this year's Geektown Awards. We take a look at all the latest tv & film news, including Amazon's new sci-fi comedy pilot ‘Upload’, ‘Nightflyers’, and the return of ‘Animaniacs’!We give you our recommendations for upcoming TV in the next 7 days.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown.
