Welcome to a new episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. On this episode, I'm chatting Music Editor Ryan Rubin who has recently been Emmy-nominated for Season 1 of the utterly spectacular Disney+ Star Wars series 'The Mandalorian'.For those of you that haven't caught 'The Mandalorian', the series is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. It has also been renewed for a 2nd Season, which is due to drop later this year, so if you've been thinking about getting Disney+, now is a great time to dive in and catch up!Season 1 of 'The Mandalorian' stars ‘Narcos’ & ‘Game Of Thrones’ actor Pedro Pascal in the title role, with Gina Carano (‘Deadpool’), Giancarlo Esposito (‘Breaking Bad’), Emily Swallow (‘Supernatural’), Carl Weathers (‘Predator’), Omid Abtahi (‘American Gods’), Werner Herzog (‘Grizzly Man’), and Nick Nolte (‘Affliction’). The upcoming 2nd Season is due to expand the already impressive cast with Temuera Morrison ('Star Wars' Boba Fett), Katee Sackhoff ('Star Wars Rebels' Bo-Katan), Rosario Dawson ('Star Wars Rebels/Clone Wars' Ahsoka Tano), and 'Terminator' & 'Aliens' star Michael Biehn. In the interview, Ryan firstly explains what a music editor actually does (much better than I could, so I'll let you hear that from him!) He also discusses working with both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, along working alongside the brilliant composer Ludwig Göransson, whose music help shape the world of 'The Mandalorian'. Whilst 'The Mandalorian' was Ryan's first "episodic" TV project, his back catalogue of film work is, frankly, ridiculously impressive! His previous projects include 'The Simpsons Movie', 'The Dark Knight', 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'Inception', 'Interstellar', 'Mad Max: Fury Road', 'Blade Runner 2049', 'Solo: A Star Wars Story', and 'The Lion King'... Adding to that, his upcoming films include both 'Wonder Woman 1984' and 'Top Gun: Maverick'!If you'd like to hear more behind the scenes interviews, don't forget to rate and subscribe to where ever you get your podcasts by searching for "Geektown Radio".
