This week I had the chance to interview John Heller of FuseFX, Visual Effects Supervisor on a host of different shows, including the utterly brilliant HBO drama 'The Outsider'.Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same name, 'The Outsider' begins by following a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a young boy. But when an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case, it leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe in.John has a huge list of credits to his name ranging from tv shows such as 'True Detective' and 'The Last Tycoon' to movies such as 'The Bourne Legacy', 'Titanic' and the 'Percy Jackson' movies.In the interview, we discuss John's work on the 800 or so effect shots on the drama, along with the challenges of creating VFX which cannot be seen by the audience.
