Gab & Jam Episode 51 Can you separate the art from the artist? This is a highly topical issue, as entertainers, like Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, and Michael Jackson, to name a few, are involved in some way in sexually illegal activities. There is a public outcry to cut all ties between them and the public, as well as their ability to make a living. So, we challenged ourselves to answer the question of whether or not, we, as listeners/viewers/etc. can separate the art that this people have made from the dirty deeds that they’ve committed? What we discuss in this episode: • We stand against any form of abuse or rape or racist or illegal activity. • The list is long and growing…slippery slope? o (Prince is likely going on that pedophile list soon…) • Does it stop at entertainment only? Should be get rid of the $2 dollar bill, because Thomas Jefferson was a rapist? • List is likely long due to the type of personalities who seem to thrive in show business. • Though what these folks have done may be all kinds of wrong, we are all human and are going to do SOMETHING wrong… In conclusion, where do we stand on being able to separating the art from the artist? Let us know what you think. UPCOMING: 1. SXSW Meet Up Link: http://bit.ly/2C30D6y 2. Song a week challenge; Don’t miss out (refer back to Episode 44 “19 for 2019” Goals) 3.
