Tackling LA's Homelessness Crisis with Nithya Raman
Let's Get Dressed - A podcast by Dear Media
Nithya Raman is an urban planner, activist, and Los Angeles Council Member for the 4th District. Nithya was born in India and moved to the US as a child, where she later went on to study at Harvard University and get her master’s degree in urban planning at MIT. She ran for office for the first time at 38-years-old with no prior political experience, passionate about solving Los Angeles’ homeless crisis. She beat the incumbent and received the most votes of any L.A. council member ever - running a grassroots, door-to-door campaign that galvanized Angelenos to get involved in local elections. In this episode, Nithya and I discuss how frustration helped her find her voice, the power of local elections, and her plans to help transform Los Angeles.
