S01 EP7: Sergi Canos

Series One sees us meet Liverpool FC's Academy class of 2013/14. Episode Seven is with Sergi Canos. A prodigious talent signed by Liverpool from Barcelona's world famous La Masia Academy. Sergi talks about settling in to the English culture and language and the remarkable lengths gone to by Team Canos, his parents and sister, in order to give him the opportunity to follow his dream. Whilst he enjoyed his time with Liverpool, it is his love affair with Brentford, which is perhaps the most important time in his narrative and we spoke to him at a time when he was approaching a full recovery from the serious knee injury he suffered during the 2019/20 season. It was a beautiful coincidence that, in the week we have released this pod, he scored a magnificent goal for the Bees in front of returning fans at the club's new stadium. It was an emotional goal and this pod goes some way to explaining the emotion behind it.

Om Podcasten

A B5 Consultancy podcast telling the untold stories of the beautiful game - the pain, the graft and the rejection. Media lawyer Matt Himsworth and former Luton, Stevenage and Newport County footballer Fraser Franks meet with those who have lived extraordinary football journeys. Not necessarily the top stars who have the accolades and the attention but those who have been through the mill, lived the struggles and come out of the other end to tell the tale. Series One focuses on the Academy journey at the Premier League champions, Liverpool FC, as we meet the class of 2013/14, a group of young men that came so close to living the Anfield dream but have had to come to terms with an alternative pathway. As well as interviewing the players and hearing their emotional stories we speak to those who knew the players and their journeys, including fans, coaches and a Liverpool legend.
