Welcome to another episode of the FOLLOWING FILMS podcast. A movie podcast that takes you on a weekly journey into the world of cinema and the minds of the talented individuals who shape it. I'm your host, Chris Maynard, and today we are joined by writer director Max Gold to discuss his film BELLE. The film is a retelling of the classic fairy tale BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. In the film, Belle works on the family farm and cares for her father after he falls severely ill. Desperate to save him, she journeys in search of a mythical rose believed to be a cure. She must surrender herself as a prisoner to a vicious beast as payment for the rose. Battling the beast’s spell and the two toxic relationships in her life, Belle’s true journey is only just beginning. But before we dive into our conversation with Max, I'd like to take a moment to thank our sponsor, Bookmans. Bookmans is your go-to independent bookstore, where you can find an extensive selection of books, movies, music, and more. They truly believe in the power of storytelling and the magic of the cinematic arts. In fact I picked up my copy of the 1946 Beauty and the Beast that we reference in this episode at Bookmans. So, if you're looking to expand your film collection, be sure to visit your nearest Bookmans and check out their classics/Criterion section, there is always something truly wonderful in there. Have you followed the Following Films Podcast on Spotify? If you have, thank you! If you haven’t head on over to Spotify, search for Following Films, and give us a follow. It really does help the show. Now, without further ado, here’s my conversation with Max about BELLE. The film opens in Avondale Arizona on 7.14  and hits on demand 8.22. Enjoy the show.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/followingfilms/support
