Danika 'Nika' McGuigan (4 January 1986 – 23 July 2019) McGuigan was born in 1986, to Barry McGuigan and Sandra McGuigan. She is deeply missed by Brothers Shane, Jake and Blane, Mother Sandra and Father Barry. **FNI would like to note that this podcast was recorded before Elliot Page made his announcement. The point Wiebke makes in the context of Nika McGuigan's career referring to Elliot's former identity as Ellen Page felt important to include. There was no disrespect intended. The daughter of former WBA Featherweight champion Barry McGuigan, Nika, Nika battled childhood leukemia from the ages of 11 to 13. The disease sadly then returned when she was an adult, claiming her life in 2019 at age 33. She was known for her starring role as art student Danielle Mullane in Can't Cope, Won't Cope (2016–2018). She appeared in several films and TV shows, including The Secret Scripture, Mammal (2016) alongside Rooney Mara and Jack Reynor. Traders, Stay opposit Aiden Quinn Directed Wiebke von Carolsfeld. Her last film was Cathy Brady's Wildfire. Which will be released in 2021. McGuigan was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 11 in 1997, but recovered from the illness after two years of treatment.
