Our guest was writer-director Peter Strickland, therefore we switched to English for the first time in the history of our podcast. With him, we mapped several Hungarian aspects of his movies, for example the shooting in János Kádár’s mansion. We analyzed the unique depiction of violence in Berberian Sound Studio, concerning The Duke of Burgundy we asked, why aren’t there any men in it, and reaching In Fabric, he reassured us, it’s ok, if we fall asleep during a movie. He walks his own path as a director, creatively inverts the genres, and meanwhile he creates sensual and extravagant worlds.
