198. Grieving What You Imagined

Expectation is the root of disappointment. Even Proverbs says our heart grows sick when hope is delayed. But what happens when unmet expectations in relationships leave you disappointed? Sad? Angry? In this episode, Josh and Christi share the importance of acknowledging what you lost and grieving well. This includes letting go of the ideal in your marriage, releasing parental agendas, and decreasing the pressure you put on yourself. Here are some highlights:* Until we learn to grieve and face the uncomfortable emotions, we struggle to feel the celebratory ones.* When we haven't allowed ourselves to grieve, we end up placing the burden of disappointment, anger, and fears onto our kids.* Loving God and others as ourselves frees us to give selflessly with no expectation of a return.* Recognize the grieving process is a journey and takes time. Give yourself grace.Show Notes:Get the Your Family Purpose: A Step-by-Step Guide to Establishing Your Family Vision and Values online course for 20% OFF! Click here to learn more!Join our community!
