This time of ambiguous loss can cause feelings of helplessness and hopelessness because our solution-oriented culture is actually destructive when faced with a problem that has no solution. Instead we need to look at things differently and do things differently. The end isn't in sight but that doesn't mean we give up. We just need to find new ways to keep going.
