Continuing on our Christmas theme, today I will read a short excerpt from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. (I know! Terrifying! It's SO HARD! 😱 Even for me! But we can handle it! This little bit is just about eating Christmas Dinner, so it's the easiest part of the story!🥳) This is the quintessential Christmas story and has been retold hundreds of times in different plays and movies around the world. Charles Dickens was a famous British writer and his story of a British Christmas created the idea of what we think Christmas should be. This piece is quite a small part of the story and just talks about the meal that the poor family, the Cratchit's, eat for Christmas dinner, you might remember Tiny Tim, the youngest son of the Cratchits. It's more likely you will remember the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future and, of course, Scrooge, perhaps the most famous grumpy Christmas character that all other grumpy Christmas characters have been based on. I hope you enjoy the reading. Try not to worry too much if you don't understand, tomorrow I will go into detail about all the different elements of this reading. Today just focus on listening and try to understand as much as you can. Tomorrow we'll focus on learning. Merry Christmas!
