In this episode I will read a short children's story written by my favourite author, Terry Pratchett. The story is about Father Christmas (Santa) going to work in a department store at Christmas time. The story is written through a set of emails between various employees at the store. Of course, the people in the store don't know that the *real* Father Christmas is coming to work as a fake Father Christmas in the Christmas Grotto. Over time they start to realise that all is not quite what it seems... Who are the little faces that keep appearing all over the toy department? Why is there real reindeer poop in the toy department every morning when all the reindeer are made out of plastic? And why does this Father Christmas keep giving expensive toys away? Doesn't he know this is a store to sell things?! Tomorrow we will review some of the phrases and vocabulary from the story. I hope you enjoy this reading. Remember you can head over to the YouTube page to watch the video, the video also has English subtitles. Tomorrow on the blog I will write down some of the vocabulary and some phrases from today's reading. Correction: I thought the illustrations were by Roald Dahl's illustrator Quentin Blake, in fact they are by a different illustrator, Mark Beech.
