Scroll on. There are many other episodes you can explore. I know there are lots of people who feel overwhelmed by the diversity that we're now seeing in the world and on TV. Personally, I've chosen to expand my world view by following some Trans and Non-Binary folks on social media and watch LGBTQ+ friendly TV shows and movies. These influencers and shows help me better understand the experience of people who have a different life experience to me and to understand some of the science and reality of living out and proud as a queer person in these modern times. Young Royals - A show made in Sweden. A royal prince goes to high school and meets the love of his life - a local boy who is at the private school on a scholarship. In addition to the gay content it also has a very diverse cast, including a girl with ADHD. There are lots of great discussions about growing up a teenager and the place for royalty and class in the modern world. Queen Charlotte - Part of the Bridgeton franchise the gay storyline is a side story in this show. It a diverse cast that also considers mental health. Grace and Frankie - This is quite an unusual show for America, features Oscar winner Jane Fonda. Most of the cast is in their 70s and 80s. Two men decide to leave their wives so they can be together. All 4 have been best friends for a long time so this creates a very unusual circumstance and lots of funny moments. Heartstopper - An award winning British show based on one of the UKs first real Manga style stories. This is another high school drama, it features a diverse cast including Trans and Non-binary actors. Two boys meet and navigate love in an all boys school. Vocabulary Distil something down - distil is to reduce, this is an phrase meaning 'to summarise' something. Dad jokes - as it sounds, the jokes your Dad tells. Usually easy to understand, sometimes not very funny, often a bit silly.DIY - short for Do It Yourself, this is a phrase used to describe the work you do on your house by yourself that you might otherwise pay someone to do. Heteronormative - just meaning normal to heterosexual people or something that heavily relates to the normalised heterosexual culture Tropes - common themes or actions that we see again and again in movies and TV shows. For example a common trope in Korean TV shows is that the girl falls and the guy catches her. Get your head around something - to understand something Snippet - a small cut or small amount of something, usually time rather than food.Eye opening - something surprising or unexpectedly shocking or surprising. Dubbing - the recorded voices that are played over the original sounds. For example most historical Chinese movies are dubbed in the West, when we watch them we can hear English actors saying the lines, but the mouths of the actors on screen don't match the words we hear because they were actually speaking Chinese.
